EleBlog has written previously after employment number releases about the Birth/Death Estimate — a “guess” about “jobs at companies we don’t know about” that Bureau of Labor Statistics literally flings into each monthly report.
Well, the September Birth/Death number was a MINUS 9,000.
Perhaps someone should tell Jack Welch, assuming he can still hear or read. It’s reasonable to conclude — based on his entire career — that the guy was a lot better at talking than listening . . .

For the record: EleBlog still thinks the Birth/Death massaging is stupid, is based on an economy of days gone by (not resembling today’s U.S. economy), and COULD BE ACCUSED of subtle government manipulation (even if it is totally a-political).
However, if the BLS and the Obamaites were manipulating the BIG employment number, this was a place to start. And a -9K Birth/Death number tells us that the 114K wasn’t corrupted (at least, not on this angle).
