Solar Financing for Residential: $5.7B by ’16

A few days ago a post ran here about a high-cost GTM Research publication on solar PV financing.

Well, EleBlog did NOT do its homework — there is information shared online. Here are findings from the thing:

  • Residential solar leases are now available in fourteen states
  • The residential solar financing market is forecasted to rise from $1.3 billion in 2012 to $5.7 billion in 2016
  • There have been 28 individual funds raised for residential solar projects totaling over $3.1 billion. U.S. Bancorp has been by far the most prolific investor, providing fourteen funds and over $1.35 billion to the market. Eight other financiers have been active in the market.
  • The four largest providers of residential solar leases in 2012 in California were Sunrun, SunPower, SolarCity, and Clean Power Finance
