He’s manager of corporate logistics and inventory at Schaedler-Yesco Distribution, a growing electrical distributor based in Harrisburg PA. I’ve done articles on SYD in the past, when I worked for TED magazine and tedmag.com.
The Q-and-A with Randy (from the 6/7/13 Central Penn Business Journal) is pretty consistent with what I think I know about SYD. Here’s one of his answers that is not only truthful, I think — but illustrates what the average distributor HAS to do:
It’s becoming more challenging as we stretch across the state. We are growing where the business is growing.
We have customers who do more than a million dollars with us, and then we have the guy who does $50,000 but might be more demanding because he is a one-man show and his livelihood is dependent upon us getting the stuff to him on time.
