Lighting Shipments Slip in Q3/13

As with most quarterly data, this is historic — reporting on the July-Sept. 2013 quarter today, in early January 2014. However, what NEMA has wrought lately –

HID Lamp Indexes Contract — a new low for sodium vapor lamps, and more

Linear Fluorescent Lamps Retreat– “NEMA’s shipment indexes for T5, T8 and T12 lamps retreated during 2013Q3, decreasing by 7.3, 9.4 and 5.5 percent, respectively.”

As you can see, year-over-year results for T12s really sucked. Which (of course) you might have predicted in advance!

NEMA Lighting Systems Index Slips from 5-year High — as the graphic below makes clear, the recent 5-year high didn’t come close to matching average quarterly performance during the first 7 years of the 2000s….
