According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 4,647,000 people employed in the construction industry in August 2013 (subject to revision). In September, the subject-to-revision number was 4,620,000.
As of Sept 2012, the number was 4,450,000. So the industry was up 3.8% as of 9/13. Not spectacular, but not a decline, either!
